Sandy K. Rea, a beloved longtime resident of Moriarty, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Albuquerque after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years old.
Born in Wellington, Kansas, Sandy’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was known for her generous spirit, her strength in the face of adversity, and her infectious laughter that could brighten any room. She lived with compassion, grit, and a deep loyalty to those she held dear.
Sandy was a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary at the Ike Cole Post 3370, where she proudly supported veterans and their families. She had a deep appreciation for history, a lifelong love of classic Western films, and was a devoted fan of John Wayne. Her passion for the Old West went beyond the screen—she even participated in Western reenactments, joyfully embracing the spirit and tradition of frontier life.
Above all else, Sandy’s greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She poured her heart into their lives, celebrating their accomplishments and offering constant love.
She is survived by her loving partner, Chuck Major; her sister, Rita Chasey; her daughter, Becky Burchett, and son-in-law, Art Burchett; her son, Kenny Snow, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Snow. Sandy's legacy continues through her grandchildren: Tyler Burchett, William Burchett, Kassandra Dominguez, Richard Burchett, Desiree Lopez, Karli Burchett, Madeline Snow, and Raylee Snow. She was a proud great-grandmother to Dario Dominguez, Maya Dominguez, and Lorenzo Lopez. She is also survived by her nephew, Donny Daugherty; niece, Melanie Payne; and great-nephew, Oliver Lee Johnson.
Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Goforth; her father, Don Daugherty; her son, Paul Wilson; and her great-grandson, Matias Lopez.
She will be remembered for the love she gave, the strength she showed, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00 am.
