Mary Trujillo Barela, a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on April 12, 2025, at the age of ninety in Albuquerque, NM. Born September 11,1934 in Tajique, NM, she was the daughter of Segundo and Andrea Trujillo.
Mary was a devoted wife to her husband Lorenzo Barela and a source of love and support for her children and their families. Known for her quick wit, generous spirit, and unwavering strength, she had the remarkable ability to bring joy to everyone she met.
Mary found immense joy in gardening, painting, cooking, and spending quality time with her daughters and grandchildren.
Her surviving family members include her children, Liz Maes (Ron) and Lori Coash (Peter); her grandchildren, Lorenzo Maes (Julie), Andrea Brown (David), Rebekah Maes, Christopher Coash, and Lizzie Coash; and her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Brown and James Brown.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Lorenzo Barela, parents Segundo and Andrea Trujillo, siblings Dimas, Herman, Maclovio, Doroteo, Ernest, Eduardo, Cipriano, Jose, and Maryanna Trujillo; and her incredibly special aunt Carmen Otero.
A rosary and funeral Mass will take place at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia, New Mexico, on Saturday, May 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Fred Otero, Lorenzo Maes, Christopher Coash, David Brown, Orlando Trujillo and Tyler Ortega.
