Marilyn Zoe McMath Coburn (Gigi), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025 at home in Estancia, New Mexico after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 12, 1937 in Mountainair, New Mexico, Marilyn grew up in the Ewing area with one older sister and six older brothers.
A proud graduate of Estancia High School Class of 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Coburn, on April 14, 1954 in Estancia. Marilyn dedicated herself to both her family and her community. She worked for 13 years at Estancia Schools, where she supported generations of students with warmth and care. She served on the Estancia town council and volunteered as an EMT and firefighter with the Estancia Fire Department alongside her husband, Richard.
Marilyn was deeply devoted in her faith. She stood beside her husband as he served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Estancia. Marilyn taught Sunday School and found joy in singing old religious hymns that reflected her enduring spirit and belief.

She is survived by her daughters Pamela Burchett (William) and Lynn Noyes (Koda) of Estancia, grandchildren Ryan Coburn (Sam), and Bethany Coburn of Albuquerque; Sandra Hill (Richard) of Daytona Beach Fl; Arthur Burchett (Becky) of Estancia; and Brent Noyes and Ashlee Noyes of Estancia. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents W.P. and Eva (Lassiter) McMath; her beloved husband Richard Coburn; son Rick Coburn; and granddaughter Allison Coburn.
In addition to her devotion to family and faith, Marilyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting, traveling, and singing—especially the song “You Are My Sunshine”, which became a heartfelt anthem among those who knew her best. She loved watching high school volleyball.
Marilyn’s life was one of steadfast love, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to others. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held on August 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 301 Eighth St in Estancia.
