Laura Roberta Oney-Jones

Laura Roberta Oney Jones, 70, a lifetime resident of NM, passed away May 28, 2025, in Albuquerque. NM. Laura was born in Mountainair, NM on June 13, 1954 and lived on her grandfather’s ranch until she was 14-years-old. She attended school in Mountainair graduating in 1972. She then attended NMSU graduating with both her B.S. and Master’s degree in Home Economics and Education, Laura taught in Carrizozo, NM beginning in 1978 before moving to Capitan, NM where she taught until retirement in 2010. Laura married Kenneth D. Jones in Mountainair, NM January 4th, 1975. They have two sons, Kyle Jones and his wife Kaisa and their children Logan and Lillianna of Mountainair, NM and Klayton Jones and his children Elli, Chloe, Ryder, and Lila of Perry, OK. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth D. Jones; both sons; six loved grandchildren; brother Monty Oney and his wife Donna of Earlsboro. OK; brother Mickey Oney and his wife Laura of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law Bobby Harper and his wife Teri of Rio Rancho, NM; brother in-law Rick Harper and his wife Gladys of Lubbock, TX; brother-in-law Teddy Harper and his wife Cindy of Clovis, NM; sister-in-law Deena Qualls and her husband Rick of Clovis, NM and mother-in-law Joyce Jones of Clovis, NM and many Nieces and Nephews and Cousins.

A Celebration of Life for Laura will be held on July 12, 2025 at the Dr. Saul Building at 109 N. Roosvelt, Mountainair, NM 87036 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Laura will be laid to rest at the Mountainair Cemetery.

The Family has asked that memorial donations be made to either the Alzheimer’s Research Association or The Living Hope of the Nazarene Church P.O. Box 344, Mountainair, NM87036.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM.
