Kathryn Lynn Chavez

November 19, 1957 — October 23, 2021

Kathryn Lynn (Ragland) Chavez died Saturday, 23 October, 2021 at her home in Moriarty, New Mexico following a brief illness and hospitalization. She was born to the late Robert and Erma Jean Skinner, 19 November, 1957, in Toledo, Ohio. Her sister Diane Zgorzelski preceded her in death. Her sister Deborah Bell survives. Kathy graduated from Toledo High School in 1975. Kathy brought four boys into the world who all survive her. Christopher Michael (Amy) of Benton, KS and Bryan Edward (Dee) of Chickasha, OK with her first husband. Followed by Benito Lucas Jay - aka Benjay (Maricela) of Moriarty, NM and Matthew Blas (Kaycee) of Estancia, NM with her second husband. She was blessed to know the Chavez family and their generosity with the boys to help make them the men they are today. Kathy’s boys have brought 16 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren into the world. They are spread throughout the Southwest and Midwest from New Mexico to Oklahoma, Kansas, Indiana, and Florida. Kathy did not live an easy life, but worked hard throughout her life as a waitress, bank teller, and Nursing aide. She was known as a reliable, responsible, hard worker who was always willing to help friends however she could, no matter how little she had. She loved helping others. Kathy made herself at home in Ohio, Missouri, New Mexico, Texas, and Michigan at different times throughout her life. In her later years she resettled in New Mexico and had started to find peace with her past. Kathy will be cremated and then laid to rest privately by her boys in a family plot in Stanley, New Mexico. A public memorial gathering will be planned at a later date.
