Obituary

Deacon Juan Sebedeo Lucero was born on February 28, 1939, and entered into eternal life on July 6, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.

Juan lived a life rooted in faith, service, laughter, and love. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying with him the values of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment throughout his life. His greatest mission, however, was lived through his vocation as a husband, father, and faithful servant of God.

As a Deacon of the Catholic Church, Juan dedicated his life to serving others with humility, compassion, and a joyful heart. His faith was not simply something he practiced—it was the foundation of who he was. He shared God’s love through his ministry, his kindness, his presence, and the way he cared for everyone who crossed his path.

Those who knew Juan will forever remember his incredible sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, making people laugh, and bringing joy into every room he entered. Even during his most difficult moments of illness, he continued to smile, laugh, and lift the spirits of those around him.

Above all, Juan adored his beloved wife, Clorinda Lucero. Their love and devotion throughout their many years of marriage was a beautiful witness of faithfulness, commitment, and the sacred gift of marriage.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clorinda Lucero; his children: Bonnie Webster and her husband, Johnny; Juan Lucero and his wife, Gloria; Maria Adewunmi and her husband, Godwin; Lora Chavez and her husband, Rick; Jesus Lucero and his wife, Lucia; Father Jose Lucero; Lorenzo Lucero; Martin Lucero and his wife, Sarah; Elena Gatzios and her husband, Costa; and Rosalinda Saavedra and her wife, Berna.

Juan was blessed with an extraordinary family legacy of 64 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Declan and Ezra.

He was preceded in death by his beloved children: Luis Marcos Lucero, Elisa Guadalupe Barela, and Francisco Diego Lucero.

Deacon Juan Sebedeo Lucero leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, laughter, and unconditional love. His life was a reflection of God’s goodness, and his memory will continue to live on through the generations who were blessed to call him husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, deacon, and friend.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
