Johnny (Gomer to his friends), passed away October 7, 2025 at the age of 75.
Johnny was born on May 8, 1950 in Mountainair, New Mexico to Angel Medina and Senaida Sisneros Medina, the youngest of 10. He graduated from Mountainair High School in 1969. Johnny worked for Mountainair Public Works and the US Forest Service.
Johnny had a great sense of humor and was a lifelong fan of the Yankees and Cowboys. Many MHS games would not have been the same without hearing him cheering the Mustangs on (or shouting about a bad play or bad call).
He loved music and was a man of deep faith. Johnny was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church of Mountainair.
Johnny was predeceased by his siblings, Pete Medina, Richard Medina and Edna Moore. He is survived by his three sisters, Teles, Henrietta (Raymond), and Tillie (Frank); goddaughter, Destiny Montano, and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, and when great-nieces and great-nephews came along, a tradition continued – any time there was a family gathering, Johnny could always be found surrounded by the youngest children, often sprawled on the floor playing alongside them.
Pallbearers are Steven Medina, Paul Medina, Patrick Luna, Russell Luna, Ruben Miranda, and Elias Zamora.
A special thanks to Frank and Tillie Luna for their dedicated support, for accompanying Johnny to his appointments, and serving as advocates on his behalf.
