Elmer Lee Aragon was born on May 24, 1950 in Grants, NM to Salomon and Aurelia Aragon. He entered into the arms of the Lord on May 30th, 2026. Raised between Grants and San Rafael, he learned the value of hard work at an early age, working side-by-side with his Grandfather Elfego Valdez. Later moving to Albuquerque, Elmer graduated from Albuquerque high school in 1968.
He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, exemplifying honor, courage and a deep love for his nation.
December of 1980 God’s grace touched his life, leading to his salvation and a complete transformation of his path.
In 1986, Elmer welcomed his son Anthony. Being a single father wasn’t just a role he took on by circumstance, but his greatest priority.
Elmer found his soulmate and the love of his life in Carol—his Kooka. They married in 1998, and their love story has only grown stronger ever since, beginning a life built on love, faith, and shared purpose. With Carol came two more children, Daniel and Victoria, and Elmer stepped into the role of father with an open heart. One of his favorite shirts proudly proclaims: “I’m not the stepdad, but the dad that stepped up.”
Horseback riding was always a way of life for Elmer. He loved the outdoors and horses, which led him to join the Escobosa Rider’s Club. Rodeos and community parades always brought a smile to his face.
Elmer is survived by his wife Carol, sons Anthony Aragon, Daniel Bustamante, daughter Victoria and husband Todd Pohl, sisters Angie Aragon, Lisa Aragon, Diane Lucero, brothers Anthony and Rick Aragon, Grandchildren: Sienna Silva, Delilah Lucero, William and KentLee Pohl, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his Father Salomon Aragon, his mother Aurelia Garcia, brothers Edward and Kenneth Aragon, Jesse Garcia, Sister Gina Garcia.
