Elizabeth “Betsy” Evans Rimmer Hilfer was born on August 19, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, and was promoted to glory on August 11, 2023, at home in Moriarty, NM with her husband Daniel by her side. Daniel and Betsy have been married for 36 years and would enjoy their anniversary dinners at Olive Garden. She lived in the same house for 15 years, in Moriarty, with Daniel. Betsy has been a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for many years and was the nursery director. She had a heart for the children, and loved working with them and they loved her. Betsy worked at Smarty Pants Daycare for many years and loved working with those children. She had three master’s degrees, Education, Christian Education, & Elementary Education. Betsy loved God and has been blessed to return home to be with Him. Dan and Betsy would read this Serenity Prayer together every night as they would go to bed, and every morning when they would wake up. The night before she was called home, she told Dan as she was taking her oxygen off, “I see a white field with my family who has passed on before me, it’s beautiful. I can’t be late, they’re waiting for me.” Over the last few years Dan has learned things about Betsy, one of the questions he asked her, "What is the meanest thing you ever did?" She told him, "My brother made me mad, so I threw a fork at him when I was about 7 or 8 years old. I felt so bad about it." Betsy's favorite animal was an armadillo and had a collection of small armadillos. Betsy was loved by all and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Methodist Children's Home, in memory/honor of Elizabeth Hilfer. Their address is: Methodist Children's Home, 1111 Herring Ave., Waco, TX 76708-9903. We would like to invite all to attend her celebration of life at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 2700 Highway 333, Moriarty, NM 87035 on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 1 pm.
