Debra K Massey

Debra K Massey accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1994 and entered His loving arms on December 9, 2025. Debbie was born on October 16, 1950 in Jennings, Louisiana to Kathryn Baughn and AB Shortes. She was raised by the Blakeneys, family friends. The Blakeneys moved several times during Debbie’s youth. From Pason, Arizona to Farmington, New Mexio and then the Estancia Valley. She loved Mr. Blakeney like a father and appreciated all he did for her.

Debbie attended Estancia Municipal Schools and met the love of her life George David Massey. Dave was determined to marry her, and she was not as confident at first. But soon she was convinced and they were married. They welcomed four boys, David, Donnie, Darren and Danny.

Hard work and dedication were Debbie’s support in their family business, Sandia Well Drilling. The numerous people through the east mountains that she would come to know or at least remember by their water well was amazing. She would later provide guidance to the boys with their career ambitions.

Her greatest joy were her six grandchildren. Granny was the best rocker. She could get the grandkids to sleep in no time and not very often were they laid down to complete their naps. Granny did her best to attend all their sports and school events. She was their number one supporter and always enjoyed their stories. A good laugh with Granny was priceless.

Debbie was very skilled with her crocheting. She was always working on a new afghan. One of the grandkids would give their color preference and it was not too long till she would have their afghan ready. It was always fun to ask Granny who’s afghan are you working on now? The whole family now has many afghans to keep Granny’s love with them always.

Debbie is preceded in death by her mother. The Blakeneys and Dave Massey.

She is survived by her sons David and his wife Holly of Edgewood, their children Jean Shelly(Chris), Kirsten(Jake) and Emma. Donnie of Edgewood. Darren and his wife Roxanne of Albuquerque. And Danny and his wife Amanda of Edgewood, their children Brandie, Otto and Georgie.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Roadrunner Hospice and especially Amanda Massey for caring for Debbie.

Services will be held Saturday, January 10th 2026, 11am at Harris-Hanlon 807 Central Ave, Moriarty, NM 87035.
