Obituary

Gilbert Joseph Jaramillo & Connie Carol Jaramillo

A Legacy of Love, Family, and Devotion

Gilbert Joseph Jaramillo, age 76, of Moriarty, New Mexico, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family. Connie Carol Jaramillo, age 69, of Moriarty, New Mexico, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Gilbert and Connie shared a lifetime of love, friendship, and devotion to one another, and journey together began before their marriage when they welcomed their first daughter in 1975. Their second daughter in 1977. They married in 1978 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and spent the following decades building a life centered on family, hard work, and commitment. Together, they built their home in Moriarty, New Mexico, worked on countless projects side by side, and created a family legacy that continues through the generations.

Gilbert was born on January 11, 1948 in Clovis, NM. He was a caring, generous, patient, hardworking, and wise man of integrity who was deeply devoted to his family. Gilbert enjoyed golf, home improvement projects, and being a loving “Pampo” to his grandchildren. You could often find him taking power naps in front of the TV while listening to a golf tournament. He always woke up when someone tried changing the channel. He had a compassionate heart and was known for the kindness and patience he showed to those around him. He always encouraged his kids and grandkids to value their education. He also had a special love for animals and treated every creature with gentleness and care, no matter the species. His compassion extended beyond people, and his family will always remember the kindness he showed to all living things.

Connie was born on May 18, 1957, in Clovis, New Mexico. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud Nana, and cherished great-grandmother. Connie took pride in working hard and always did her best at whatever she did. Connie’s greatest joy came from caring for the people she loved. Family was the center of her world, and she had a special way of making everyone feel valued and loved. She especially adored children and made each of her grandchildren feel as though spending time with them was exactly where she wanted to be.

Connie was known for her thoughtful and giving nature. In fact, her favorite holiday was Christmas. She was always thinking about others, often finding little things while shopping that reminded her of someone she loved. She would save those gifts until she saw that person again, whether it was days or months later. Her love was shown through the countless small ways she cared for her family.

Together, Gilbert and Connie created a home filled with love, laughter, and memories. They enjoyed working on projects together, caring for their home, and watching their family grow. Gilbert had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and was known for his playful teasing. He could often be found watching comedy or golf on television, enjoying the simple moments that brought him joy. Connie loved oldies music, Mexican music that reminded her of Gonzales Ranch, singing in the car with her grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, dancing in the kitchen, and encouraging her family to dream big. She taught those she loved the importance of dedication, determination, and drive. Together, they created a home where love, laughter, and family were always at the center.

Gilbert and Connie are survived by their daughters, Dominica Jaramillo Davis and Camilia Jaramillo; grandchildren, Delicia (Bram) Guild, Janell Stroud, Nina Armijo, Isaiah Davis, and Malachi Davis; great-grandchildren, including Adelina Rodriguez, Gabriel Gilbert Rodriguez, and Declan Guild; Gilbert’s sisters Margarita Trevino, Theresa (Dan) Weiss, and Mary Jane Sanchez; Connie’s brothers; Toby Gonzales, Henry Gonzales, Nick (Rose) Gonzales, Don Gonzales, Victor (Della) Gonzales and Connie’s sisters Mary Gonzales, Margie (Ernest) Garcia, Fidelia (Albert) Gutierrez, Martha Mondragon (late husband Gabriel), Clara (Danny) Gonzales, Sharon (Chris) Chavez, and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

They were preceded in death by their son, Adam Jaramillo; Gilbert’s parents, Gillie Jaramillo and Ramona Sena; Gilbert’s siblings Marilyn Flores and Lorenz Jaramillo; Connie’s parents, Carlos Gonzales and Maria Delia Gonzales; and Connie’s brother, Dino Gonzales.

The family finds comfort knowing that before Gilbert’s and Connie’s passing, they placed their faith in Jesus Christ. Though Gilbert and Connie are deeply missed, the love they shared and the family they built remain their greatest legacy.

Their lives were a testament to love, commitment, and the importance of family. The home they built together will continue to live on through the generations they loved so well.

A small service was held for Gilbert with family and friends o September 4, 2024
