Butch "Boo" Allen

Butch “Boo” Allen born February 9, 1945, in Midland Texas. Received by Jesus on August 13, 2025, in El Paso Texas surrounded by family.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents and parents Charles and Mary Allen. Butch is survived by his wife Tommie of 60 years, Two sons Gid (Andrea) of Carrizozo NM and JimBob (Kari) of Melrose NM, Grandchildren July Miller (Kyler), Rowdy Allen (Shelby), Sorrell Allen, Austen Allen, Raider Allen and Lathan (Sarah) Lieb. 6 Great Grandchildren, Jensyn Miller, Knox Allen, Sawyer Miller, Stone Allen, Layth and Luxx Lieb. Bonus sons Fred DeSiena and Harvey Martin. He is also survived by one sister Marian Kay and her late husband Melvin and many nieces, nephews and many other family members.

Butch was a dedicated husband to Tommie, his loving wife of 60 years and a devoted father to Gid and JimBob. Boo loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren with all his heart. He was a father figure to many.

Butch grew up in Corona NM, Graduated high school in Alamogordo in 1963. He then attended college at NM State University. He and Tommie married in 1965. Bounced around and made their home in Capitan NM as the Lincoln County Brand Inspector. During that time, they had 2 sons Gid and Jimbob. They also owned Allen’s Western Wear and Allen’s Laundromat. Butch was also a licensed general contractor.

He joined Farm Bureau Insurance Agency as an agent in 1985 which led the family to move to Portales NM in 1986. He worked as a Farm Bureau agent and later an agent for American National for a combination of 30 years. Upon retirement, he and Tommie made the decision to move back to Corona NM with family and friends until his passing.

Butch enjoyed the outdoors whether it was hunting, team roping or fishing with his kids and grandkids, snake hunting with Jack, working cattle with Rand and Jack and watching his grandkids do just about anything. He thoroughly enjoyed coyote hunting (but he wasn’t a very good shot). He made many friends in and out of the arena.

His main passion was serving the Lord and making the National Day of Prayer one of his priorities. He and Charles Bennett along with many volunteers helped to create Catch the Vision, a Christian based ministry, as an outreach to the ENMU college rodeo team. Catch the Vision later included other athletic programs at ENMU.
