Pastor Brett Richard Travis

October 18, 1958 — April 29, 2026

Edgewood, New Mexico

Brett Richard Travis Sr. 10/18/58 - 4/29/26

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

On April 29th 2026 after a 5 year battle with cancer Brett Richard Travis Sr. left his home here on earth and soared on eagles wings into Jesus’ arms. He left behind his wife of 46 years Janet, daughters Chasiti and Chariti, his son BJ, and his grandchildren Aubrey, Luke, and honorary grandson Santi.

He had many loves in his life such as knives, guns, and the infamous GTO he traded to his brother Randy back in the day. But there is nothing he loved more than his family and Jesus. Brett accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior on January 22, 1978 at Temple Baptist Church in Las Cruces NM. He attended Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College where he met his wife Janet and surrendered his life to serve God. He began his ministry wanting to be a Missionary but God had other plans and he started Grace Baptist Church in Edgewood NM in 1988. He faithfully served as Pastor for 37 years, stepping down in early 2026 as his health did not allow him to continue.

Brett was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and spent most of his life in Edgewood, which he proudly called home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean; his father, Bo; and his beloved mother-in-law, Janet.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his daughters, Chasiti and Chariti; and his son, BJ. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Aubrey, Luke, and Santi. Brett is further survived by his 7 brothers and sisters, Cherryl, David, Randy, Cindy, Renee, Robbie and Kari as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held on June 12, 2026, with details pending at this time.
