Barbara Gayle West

Barbara Gayle West passed away in her home in Moriarty on February 18, 2023 at 72 years old. She graduated from Moriarty High School in 1968 and married her high school sweetheart, Birchie West, on January 25, 1969. She worked as the secretary and church administrator for First Baptist Church Moriarty for 14 years. Barbara loved to be with her family, whether that was fishing, hunting, or cheering on her grandchildren at their extra-curricular activities. Barbara is survived by her husband: Birchie West of Moriarty NM, her daughters: Brandy Barrett of Benbrook TX, Buffy Ware and husband Sid Ware of Moriarty NM, Becky Crow and husband Paul Crow of Moriarty NM, her grandchildren: Emily Horn and husband Brian Horn, Theresa Barrett, Robert Crow, Morgan Heckendorn and husband Josh Heckendorn, Birchie Crow and wife Morgan Crow, Tyla Brunson and husband Michael Brunson, and Devan Crow, her great-grandchildren: Aaron Horn, Emily James and husband Larry James, Daniel Brunson and Jensen Crow, and her sister: Sharon Irwin. She is survived by aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews as well. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents: Mott and Lillie Mae Henson and brother-in-law, Field Irwin. Services for Barbara will be held on Saturday, February 25th, at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church Moriarty. Pastor John Holmes will be officiating. Barbara was passionate about everyone feeling welcomed and loved, wherever they were. Because of this, her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Barbara West Memorial First Impressions Fund at First Baptist Church Moriarty.
