🌼✨ In Loving Memory of Barbara Louise Granger (1945-2024) ✨🌼
With a heart full of memories and a thread of joy, we bid farewell to long time Estancia resident, Barbara Granger, who left us at the age of 79.
She was born in 1945 in Mt Vernon, Illinois, to parents, Charles and Henrietta Leasure. The family, including 4 boys and 5 girls settled in the Estancia valley. Barbara’s love for sewing blossomed at a young age from her mother Henrietta, who was a seamstress. She adored her mother so much, there wasn’t a day that went by where she didn’t speak of her. Barbara loved creating. She sewed outfits for dolls and Barbie clothes for children and stunning wedding dresses. She made countless crocheted blankets for family and friends.
Barbara married Wayne Granger in 1970 and together they had one son, John. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Tommy, George, Paul, and Charles. She is survived by her son, John, his wife Jerri, her grandkids Heather, Rael, Krishna, Janovy, and Dedeker, who she was a proud grandmother to and who will carry on her spirit through their personalities and likeness to their grandmother.
Barbara is also survived by her dear sisters, Patricia, Nona, Jeannie, and Eileen, and her brother, John, along with their families. These bonds of sisterhood were incredibly important to Barbara, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Barbara was also a good cook, notorious for her “the way mother did it” approach in the kitchen. Family gatherings often turned into lively discussions as she shared the latest happenings, all while insisting that her mother’s recipes were the only correct way to cook. Those who dared to offer suggestions were met with a playful glare that said, “you can take your advice and leave it at the door!”
Her spirit lives on in the beautiful crocheted blankets snuggled around her grandchildren and in the delicious recipes that will be passed down through generations. Let us remember her not with tears, but with smiles, laughter, and perhaps a serving of that infamous green desert salad.
To our beloved Barbara— a creator, cook, sister, mother, and cherished friend. May she be at peace with her dear mother, together once more. We love you, and we promise to keep your spirit alive in every stitch and every bite. 🧵❤️🍰
