Anita Nieto, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 22, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband Lorenzo Nieto; her parents Pedro and Senaida Carrillo; her in-laws Polinario and Celestina Nieto; her aunts Lola Sisneros, Lola Romero, and Antonia Lerma; her uncle Ramon Carrillo (Geneva); her son-in-law Anthony Sanchez; her sisters Rosie and Susan Carrillo; and her brother Ernest Carrillo.
She is survived by her sister Juanita Carrillo and a large, loving family who will forever cherish her memory.
Her children; Roxanne Ortiz, Valentin Nieto (Jennifer), Peter Nieto (Marcos), Amanda Griego, Patrick Nieto (Amber), Earl Nieto (Marlyna), Alex Nieto, Kourtney Montano (Nick), Angel Nieto (Alex), Devon Nieto, Shirley Nieto (Summer), Jerry Logsdon, Omahne Nieto (Amanda), DezShawn Nieto, Ayries Nieto, Zamaya Nieto, Elijah Nieto, Emmett Nieto and Rosie Nieto.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Eleanor (Claude), Frances Nieto, and Tillie Nieto; her brothers-in-law Ruben Nieto, Gilbert Nieto, Mario Nieto (Micaela), Victor Nieto, and Jack Dodge (Alice); as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Anita leaves behind 14 grandchildren—Valentin, Nikey, Victoria, Bailey, Adrian, Izic, Alexander, Sebastian, Levi, Anna Michelle, Sylvia, Mya, Zaydee and Nicholas—and two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Izic.
Anita devoted her life to caring for others. She was a loving mother who fostered and cared for hundreds of children and proudly adopted sixteen, along with raising her three biological children. Her nurturing spirit, generosity, and compassion touched countless lives. Anita loved to cook, often filling her home with the comforting aromas of her favorite dishes, and she always made sure her children had everything they needed. Her legacy of love, strength and kindness will live on through every life she touched.
Anita lived a long and beautiful life, filled with love, laughter and family. Her home was always a place of warmth and welcome, where everyone felt cared for and accepted. She faced life’s challenges with grace and faith, and her strength continues to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
A Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. on November 8th, 2025 at St. Alice Catholic Parish in Mountainair.
Anita will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude by her family and all who knew her.
