Allan R Gravel, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and esteemed member of the aviation industry, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 15, 2026, at the age of 77. Allan was born on August 19,1949, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to his parents, Lucienne and Raymond Gravel.

Allan's life was a testament to dedication, passion, and an unyielding spirit. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1968 and embarked on a remarkable career that spanned various roles and locations, leaving an indelible mark on the aerospace and aviation sectors.

Throughout his career, Allan worked with esteemed companies such as Thrust Air Group, Virgin Galactic, Allegiant Airlines, Alaska Airlines, among many others. His expertise in avionics, advanced composites, and aircraft maintenance made him a highly respected figure in his field. 

In 1969, Allan married the love of his life, Carolyn O'Connor, together they built a beautiful life sharing over 57 years of marriage. Carolyn was his rock, and their partnership was a shining example of love and commitment. Allan was a devoted father to his daughter, Julie Gravel-Pickering, and his sons, Scott Gravel and Matthew Gravel. He also found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to his four grandchildren: Alexander, Dylan, James, and David.

Allan was predecesed by his son, Scott Gravel, whose memory he cherished deeply. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gravel; his daughter, Julie Gravel-Pickering; his son, Matthew Gravel; and his four grandchildren. Allan is also remembered by his siblings, Mark Gravel and Audrey Gravel.

Outside of his professional life, Allan had a zest for life and an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles, drawing, working on  hot rods, and pursuits that reflected his love for mechanics and speed. Though Allan's family has chosen to hold a private funeral, his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

His contributions to the aviation industry, and unwavering dedication to his family will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Allan's memory to a charity of your choice. Allan R. Gravel will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit soars on wings of love and remembrance.
